- Your clinical records (notes, prescriptions, anything you tell Dr. Rai) are kept in a separate encrypted medical-records system — not on this website.
- If you pay out-of-pocket, your records stay private from your insurer.

What this page covers — and what it doesn't. This document is about the harryraimd.com website only: what it collects (almost nothing) and what it doesn't (almost everything). It's separate from the clinical privacy notice you'll receive at intake, which covers how your medical records are actually handled. Visiting this site is not the same as becoming a patient, and nothing on it is medical advice.
How your clinical records stay private
Clinical records — your notes, diagnoses, prescriptions, and any messages between you and Dr. Rai — are never stored on this website. They live in a separate encrypted, HIPAA-compliant electronic medical records system. A few specifics patients commonly ask about:
- If you don't submit out-of-network insurance claims, your insurer never sees your records. They have no way to know you're a patient.
- Therapy process notes are kept separately and are not accessible to insurers, employers, or anyone else outside the practice.
- University of Michigan students: your records here are entirely separate from the university's health system. Nothing from your care with Dr. Rai is visible to UMich.
Full details are in the clinical Notice of Privacy Practices given to every new patient at intake, as required under HIPAA.
What this website collects
This site collects almost nothing about you. Specifically:
- No tracking cookies. The website does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies and does not share data with advertising networks.
- No account registration. Browsing the site does not require any account, email address, or personal information.
- No forms hosted on this site. The site itself does not collect or store form submissions. The “Request a Consultation” link directs you to an external intake portal (see below).
How visits are measured
This site uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-respecting analytics service. Plausible was selected specifically because it operates without cookies and does not collect any personally identifiable information. Aggregate data collected includes:
- Page views and approximate visit duration
- Referring website (e.g., a search engine or directory)
- Anonymized country/region (derived from IP address but not stored)
- General device type (mobile/desktop) and browser family
- Clicks on outbound links and certain page elements
The data tells the practice which pages people find useful, so the site can be improved. That's the only thing it's used for. Plausible does not use cookies, does not track individuals across sessions, does not build user profiles, and does not transmit data to advertisers or third parties.
Third-party services used by this site
IntakeQ — new patient consultation requests
The “Request a Consultation” button takes you to IntakeQ, a HIPAA-compliant healthcare intake platform used by thousands of medical practices. Once you submit the form, your information is treated as protected health information under HIPAA and is handled under the practice's clinical privacy policies. IntakeQ's own privacy practices (which govern their platform-level handling) are available at the link above.
Google Fonts
This site loads its typefaces from Google's free font library, the same way the majority of websites do. When your browser fetches a font, it makes a standard web request to Google that includes your IP address; Google does not associate this with your identity, and no other information is shared.
External directory and review platforms
This site links to external profiles on Healthgrades, Vitals, LinkedIn, Doximity, Google Maps, and the NPI Registry. These external sites have their own privacy policies, which you should review before interacting with them.
Phone and email correspondence
If you contact the practice by phone or email using the contact information on this site, your message is handled by Dr. Rai directly. Email is not a secure communication channel by default; please avoid sending sensitive clinical information by unencrypted email. For clinical communication once you are an established patient, the practice uses an encrypted, HIPAA-compliant Electronic Medical Records platform with secure messaging.
Your rights
If you'd like to know what (if anything) the website has on you, or you'd like it deleted, email drrai@harryraimd.com. Because this site collects essentially no personal information, in most cases there's nothing to retrieve — but if you're in a state with specific privacy rights (California, Colorado, Virginia, and others), the practice will honor any applicable request.
Patients under 18
Dr. Rai's practice serves adults only — no patients under 18 are seen, and the intake form is not intended for minors. This website is not directed at children, and the practice does not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 18 through it.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in the website, applicable law, or third-party services used. Material changes will be reflected on this page; we recommend reviewing periodically.
Terms of use
The information on harryraimd.com is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not medical advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional psychiatric evaluation and treatment.
